What I learned at A-Fest Portugal

Last week I spent some time in the beautiful southern region of Algarve, Portugal for a global conference known as A-Fest, hosted by Mindvalley. Each year, the event hosts an invite-only community of 2000+ people from 50+ countries to step away from the daily grind and come together to connect, get inspired, learn and grow. This was my first year attending, as I was particularly interested in the topics explored, including Influence, Authenticity, Messaging and Thought Leadership.

After four days of talks, workshops, and well-being exercises, I left the event with a ton of learnings and a few important take-aways I have began implementing into my day-to-day and am excited to share with you:

  • True fearlessness is about the action you take in face of fear.

  • Prioritize personal growth above everything.

  • Do not be afraid to ask for help. If you do not ask for help you are actually depriving others of opportunity to be of service.

  • In the new model of continuous feedback, you don’t have to accept it but you should appreciate it.

  • Always lead with generosity, intimacy, candor and accountability.

Is there a particular learning you’ve applied to your day-to-day that has helped you grow professionally or personally? Share your thoughts with @GetInRhythm or on the InRhythmU blog

“Feedback is a mirror that shows our strengths and weaknesses. It helps us identify our blind spots. Most of the time, we are inured to our mistakes and missed to see it on our own. Feedback from the person we trust and admire most helps us understand the blind spots, work on them and grow personally and professionally.”
